(Provisions of the Adolescents)

Chapter III: Spiritual Perfection (Ihsan)
O adolescents among the people! Your Spiritual Perfection with ALLAH, to Whom belongs [the] soul as
well as [the] flesh...
Consists in worshipping ALLAH as if you see Him - do then conform scrupulously to the Canon Law
For even if you do not see Him, He is watching you all - So stand in awe and keep watchful of His
Supervision...
If you really aspire to attain lofty spiritual degrees, follow closely these recommendations of mine:
I advise you to strive hard for knowledge, always act with a sense of propriety, show gratitude towards
ALLAH, be sincere in worship and generosity
I recommend you to practice silence, patience and abstinence, to show gentleness whilst seeking for
knowledge and to always look for better understanding...
Do always persevere in obeying the MOST GRACIOUS [to get] out of any transgression, no matter you are
Do avoid wordiness and excessive sleeping, stay aside from aught that entails immorality and corruption
Strive to steer clear of ostentation, of pride and of hatred, do always seek for Light wherever you may be...
I advise you to be sincere, to put your entire trust in ALLAH, to stay in modesty [and self-effacement] and
to restrain from making endless worldly plans...
I recommend you to always show much propriety, for such a virtue grants ALLAH's Reward
Indeed being endowed with far-reaching scholarship without any sense of propriety and politeness leads to
peril and sorrow
O adolescents among the people! Never strike up a friendship with anyone that is insane, instead make [a]
friend with a thoughtful companion
Because a thoughtful companion is one that cures his fellow of five (5) vices and leads him to five (5)
corresponding virtues...
Such a companion cures his fellow [companion] of ostentation and teaches him perfect sincerity, so as to
save him from hypocrisy
He cures his fellow [companion] of arrogance and leads him to modesty and forbearance
He gets his fellow [companion] out of a spirit of discord and teaches him a spirit of concord [to get] out of
any misfortune
A sensible friend cures his fellow [companion] of permanent skepticism and leads him to spiritual certainty
liable to heave him up to lofty degrees
He dispels from the disciple longing for anything harmful and directs him towards beneficial concerns...
Do take advantage of five situations before the coming of their five opposites, as recommended by [the
Prophet], the Best of humankind -
That has Peace and the Finest Blessings upon Him, upon his Family and his Companions that are Pure-
Hearted and Honorable
The first situation is youth before old age, The second situation is physical capacity before ill health
The third situation is wealth before neediness, The fourth situation is having enough time at one's disposal
before lack of time,
The fifth situation is life before death; do hasten ye towards pious deeds before it becomes too late!
Thereupon comes to [the] end [of] "PROVISIONS FOR ADOLESCENTS" in praising ALLAH, [the One]
that has [the] Might to protect against dishonor
I composed it for the sole Satisfaction of my LORD, the MOST BOUNTIFUL, from Whom I hope [to
receive] everlasting Rewards
That is a versification which introduces Religious Knowledge, for practicing and propriety and which
enables one to reach [their] aims
It is a most beneficial and blessed "Rajaz" metric [that] I put at the disposal of any fortunate person
My LORD - by the grace of the Prophet, the Elected One, Peace and Blessings be upon him -...
...Has shown Satisfaction with this work through which He will benefit all who are destined to Bliss, who
are pure-hearted and clear sighted
That is a book which leads to obeying ALLAH and which removes any kind of damnation and delusions
I was ordered to write it by ALLAH, the ETERNAL-ABSOLUTE, He Who never leads me towards any
source of misfortune
I write it for His sake solely and He honored our Covenant in bestowing me Eminence
Praise be to ALLAH and Peace be eternally upon the Prophet Ahmad, the Intercessor laden with favors,
upon his Family and his Companions
The one named Ahmad, who considers himself as a subject of ALLAH and the Servant of the Prophet,
[ends here] by thanking his ABSOLUTE MASTER...

True Knowledge
"True knowledge is that which fills the heart which fear of GOD,the ALL-KNOWER;any that is not endowed with such knowledge is a blameworthy,of a certain!"
Will not be benefit-I tell you-such knowledge which has been learnt for the sole sake of being continually admired and praise by people.
The same for that which has been acquired just for competition and rivalry-as a Pharisee would do
[Useful knowledge is] neither that which has been learnt[in order to be consecrated Mufti] so as to rush Fatwas(juridical opinions) and awards likely to cause harm
-Nor that which has been searched in aiming thereby to enslave one's brethren
-Or knowledge with which man spends his whole time in sport and amusement-[weigh ye up the relevance of these remarks] , o ye my brethren
-Or that which fills the heart with envy,resentment,arrogance and going astray
-Or that which incites unto animosity,contreversies and endless verbal sparring
-Or that which prompts unto presumptuousness, self-praising and aggressiveness
-Or that which leads unto quarrelling, quick-temperance,deceitfulness and struggling
-Or that with which one is aiming earthly goods through hoarding and denying[to spend on GOD's Cause] or that which incites unto vain chattering
Nay!Nay! But useful knowledge is that which shows first one's own failings to any that is endowed with it
-That which drives unto patience,generosity,kindness,purity of worship and sense of decency
-That which leads unto loving the truth,spiritual retreat,meditation,contemplation and thought
-Such knowledge which instils fine spiritual virtues and other discernible qualities
-Such knowledge which inspires fear of GOD and which prompts unto putting one's entire trust in HIM; that which incites unto asceticism,unto well-founded hope and withdrawing often from society so as to devote one's time to the LORD
-Such knowledge which leads out of excessive desires and out of relying on the creatures[disregarding so their VERY CREATOR]
-Such knowledge which cures from jealousy,arrogance,going astray,hatred and self-conceit
-And which encourages unto assisting and maintaining good relionship with one's Muslim brethren for the Sole Countenance of the ETERNAL-ABSOLUTE
-Indeed thus is the true nature of knowledge:either does it lead unto uprightness who that is endowed with it or shall it unavoidably lead him down towards profound perdition
-[Al-Ghazali] added that: Whosoever helps who that is seeking for knowledge,in his aim or in any of his wordly affairs,..."Will share with him aught the might be imparted as a reward,just the way anu such that knowingly sells a sword to a brigand should be involved in the crimes perpetrated by this one."
-Knowledge does not consist in a great number of reports and quotations, nay! but that is a Pure Light brightening with true understanding the heart[of whom that is endowed with]
-Thence do seek thereby the only Countenance of the MAJESTIC-o thou Dear Fellow!- so permanent delights shalt thou be granted
-Indeed any who fears not the LORD of the Worlds is far from being"learned"; had he mastered all the branches of knowledge!

“The worst transgression is,most certainly,that which hardens the heart and makes it forget GOD’s worship.”

“The best deed one may performed is assuredly that which is liable to entail the most widely spread profit [to society]like knowledge.Which helps in removing ignorance and in keeping men far off mischief and which,moreover,is beneficial to any upright person.

624. I say that the generations of our time ignore the mystical science and thereby lose many advantages
625.They ignore that Sufism is a path to the sealed enclosure, their loss is heavy!
626. They ignore it provides the best viaticum the day of disillusionment, when the great fear strikes creatures
627. They ignore that it is the best of science in which the man spent his whole life
628. They ignore that it confers on human righteousness and guarantee against the reprimand
629. Some of them devoted to Sufism by implacable hatred that their heart is spiritually sick
630. Some tax of extremism, exaggeration in faith and acts of devotion
631. Some blame because of their laziness, their love of fun and their lack of courage
632. Some designate Sufis in exclaiming: "these extremists lost our community," whereas it is they who are the real lost
633. There is inexorable to the appeals of denial by mysticism and make as if they had completely blocked ears
634. Some criticize severely, clearly turning its back on the books devoted to it
635. But if they ignore the wisdom and good guided servants of God, if they ignore the real benefit that lies
636. Know that the sun is not obscured only because the blind can be seen in the sky
637. The darkness of conjunctivitis does not hide the light of the full moon in the night of fourteen (14) (lunar month)
638. The great track can not be abandoned because of a simple ant who refuses to walk
639. No! pure person can not be truly spoiled by the sheer slander of contaminated and that exclaim: "it is not pure!
640. The eminence of the great men lucid can not be lowered either by the jealousy of men of science, or ignorance of idiots!
641. Too bad! how blame a science whose knowledge is wealth and happiness to the servant who practice
642. How a man of reason can despise a science whose beginning is the posting of earthly goods, and the end, the accession to happiness
643. How deny real science and useful with all the secrecy of the righteous?
644. Which embodies the qualities of the Prophets, those of virtuous creatures and the Saints
645. Anyone who continues to criticize it, the denial never repent
646. This one dies, plunged into the deadly sins by the righteousness of God
647. And without his knowledge, our Seih was well written, it is important to wake up!
648. You must read the book "Junnat al murîd" (the shield of the aspirant) written by our Savior the Caliph very wise
649. May the Lord creator is pleased with him and all the benefactors Elected
650. Then comes the origin of the term "at-tasawwuf" which is highly controversial
651. Between "sûfah", "Saff", "SUF", "Safwa" etc, follow their different opinions
652. Many others expressed other ideas, and every opinion is based on a conclusive argument in the eyes of its defenders
653. Their opinions on this matter go beyond the thousand, it seems pertinent to mention here
654. The Sufi is a true scholar, actually putting into practice his science without any kind of transgression
655. It becomes pure defects, heart full of righteous thoughts
656. Detached from the big world to devote himself to the service and love of God, considering equal the louis d'or and the clod of earth
657. Similar to the face of the earth, on which it throws all sorts of impurities, subject to the harshest treatment, but never does that well
658. The villain, as well as the good man, the crowd feet, but it remains motionless and impassive
659. Comparable to the cloud which pours waves everywhere, without discrimination
660. Anyone who reached this stage is a Sufi, one who has not reached that expresses Sufi is an imposter by"cheikh ahmadou bamba mbacke"
